*Schuyklill, County* My name is Mabel May, the vet says I’m just over one-year of age and if you didn’t guess it by my name…I’m a girl! My rescue momma can’t tell you too much about what my life was like before she found me but she’s assuming it wasn’t the most glamorous because at a young age my foot was caught in something (likely a trap) and my entire right, rear leg ended up dying and I drug it around with me everywhere I went. I showed up at my foster momma’s house one day as she was coming home from the grocery store. She popped open a can of wet food for me and I was on that food faster than a fly on poop. <3 She brought me in, fed me, loved me, and called the vet first thing Monday morning. Her heart broke when the vet told her it would cost over $2,700 to amputate my leg and a toe on my left, rear foot. That’s when a friend introduced my momma to ODAAT. Then my life did a 360. My leg and toe were amputated, and I was spayed. Let the healing begin! I’m a shy girl and will need patience but man, I love my foster mom. I sit at her computer desk each morning and sweetly look up at her say… “treat, please!”. I really try to be brave! My foster family has a toddler, teenagers, adults, dogs and cats and I think I’m adjusting to them even though sometimes I scurry away just for a moment to put my brave hat on! I don’t get too worked up even if one of my foster cat brothers gives me the cold shoulder. But…I love my foster mom the most – I mean who doesn’t love the hand that feeds them?! <3 While my foster family is very BIG and LOUD, I like having a quiet place to call my own! I’m asking for a family that will give me a quiet space and patience until I get to know you! I don’t like to be held much but I do love a good scratch/belly rub but please be patient with me until I get adjusted to you! I have the BEST appetite (must serve me wet food at least once a day) and I’m 100% litter trained! And, guess what…I’m current on my vaccinations! Applications to adopt me, Mabel May, can be found on ODAAT’s website at www.onedogatatime.us When applying to adopt through ODAAT, please know that we take pride in placing our animals appropriately based on their needs and personality. We want the best family for them and the perfect fit for your family. All applications are ran prior to choosing an adopter.. This process takes time and we do not adopt out on a "first come first served" basis. Applications are found on our website www.onedogatatime.us.
