Hope needs a caretaker or foster! Won't you consider helping her get a new start?
Meet Hope, 6 pounds of cute and feisty chihuahua all rolled into one. Hope came from a very sad situation. We don’t know a lot, but in her first year of life she had very little human interaction and relied on the comfort of other dogs in the home. In the beginning Hope was very shy, terrified of human touch, and would shake when taken outside. She also immediately bonded with her foster families rescue dog Heather who is around 20lbs. Heather has been Hope’s source of comfort and healing for the last 9 weeks. Today Hope has learned to trust humans through the use of different commands, such as “up, outside, and breakfast” She loves to play with toys and run outside just like any normal dog. She will even let her foster family pet her for a short time now. She is house trained, but sometimes has an occasional accident. She does well with children, but doesn’t like to be forced into being held or carried around. She will vocalize her dislikes by growling and will show her sassy side. She is crate trained, but prefers to sleep somewhere near Heather and her foster family. Hope is not a cuddler with humans, but loves to cuddle with her foster families dog Heather. She will probably never be a lap dog either. Hope will do best in a home with another small dog that would love to mother her, let her follow them around, and be her best friend. Kids in the home will need to be 8 years or older and respectful of her timidness. She would absolutely not thrive as an only dog in the home and is very scared of large dogs. She will bark and get overly excited about cats. Hope is very sweet and has come so far since her rescue. She will need a family that will be patient with her special personality, but it will be worth it when her tail wags with excitement just to see you.
