This little spunky 7 pound girl will steal your heart as she has her foster moms. Belle, the little firecracker turned 2 in July. When you think of a velcro dog...SHE is the perfect example of one. Her favorite thing is just to be on your lap 24/7 all day long. Her human and her ball makes her life complete. She LOVES to play ball all day long. Even at night she is collecting toys and bringing them into the bed with her. She will play fetch and do tricks in the air all day. Her other favorite thing is food...she absolutely loves food so be prepared to have a kitchen helper and she will demand you share with her. She has so many great qualities in this little body of hers...she also has some challenges that will continue to get worse. You see, Belle has been diagnosed with a neurodegenerative disease in her thoracic spine which will likely continue to progress and potentially cause rear paralysis, leaving her with the need of a cart to be mobile. The neurologist also mentioned that it could eventually reach her front legs also but that is not 100% certain. Along with rear paralysis may also come incontinence. She came into rescue being pee pad trained which thankfully has mostly worked. She pees alot because of her condition...if you have any rugs or carpet she will mistake them for her pee pads so picking them up or gating those rooms off will work out much better. She has accidentally peed in the bed a few times so we now take the dog stairs away from the bed every morning. Her condition causes her to walk and run a little different but don't tell her that because she loves to jump. Her activity is not affected by her condition at this time. She would appreciate being able to go everywhere with you in the car...She went on her first kayaking trip this summer and loved it (must wear a dog life jacket always on her). She loves standing in the shower with you because she doesnt like to leave your side. Before coming to rescue she spent majority of her time in a crate so when she came here we changed that...no crate needed. She doesn't chew things at all. She's definitely a barker and will tell you and others what she thinks. Belle is looking for someone that will be dedicated to her now and her medical needs in the future. Someone that is home more than not...or able to travel and go to work with you. She will need more care as time goes by.
