Kisses a 6 yr old Chocolate Lab/Australian Shepherd Mix that came to us in a rather unusual way. Her story starts in a high kill shelter in South Carolina where she was brought in by a good Samaritan as a stray. Her owners never claimed her and while the shelter was running her bloodwork, her test came back positive for Heartworm. At risk of being euthanized, a wonderful rescue in NY pulled her to safety and began coordinating the process of getting her up north for treatment. Her plan went awry when she got to her destination in PA for treatment and when she was being unloaded from the transport van, she got loose. Over the course of 28 days a team of individuals tracked her in the snow and were able to secure her. What she did during those 28 days in a mystery to all of us but we know she didn't lose a single pound and she smelled like a farm when she found lol. She is currently in foster and undergoing heartworm treatment with an excellent prognosis and no long term affects. She did not have any heartworm symptoms prior to treatment other than a positive test. Once cleared from treatment she will be looking for her forever home. Kisses is a wonderful companion dog. She is loyal to the very end and would love nothing more than to spend her days and nights amongst a family that will love her to the ends of the earth. She will give that love back tenfold. She's a follower so will need someone that doesn't mind her being "there" all the time. Where you go, she wants to go. One of her favorite things is feeding time and she bounces like a pogo stick. Occasionally she gets a burst of energy and does zoomies around the house. When its time to settle down for the night she can be found laying at your feet or trying to snuggle in so close to you on the couch, it may seem as though you will become 1 with her. She is not a fan of being crated and has shown crate anxiety but has done excellent in the house when no one is home with absolutely NO accidents or rummaging through things. In her temp foster home in SC she lived with another dog and her PA foster feels she could do the same but she seems to like calmer homes and calmer dogs. She does vocalize if the doggy atmosphere gets a little rowdy. She has not been cat tested in the home but we know she encountered them while she was lost because we saw it on camera lol. We would not suggest small children for the same reason as stated above and also with her herding breed mix. An interested adopter would need either a fence that she was unable to span height wise or committed to leashing her at all times when she is outside.
